Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī and more popularly known simply as Rumi, was a 13th-century Persian Sunni Muslim poet, jurist, Islamic scholar, theologian, and Sufi mystic. He is regarded as one of the greatest spiritual masters and poetical intellects. Born on 30th September 1207 AD he died on 17th December 1273. He belonged to a family of learned theologians.
